Kevin Gerrity

Kevin Gerrity was born and raised in Latham, New York, and is a 34-year employee of ExxonMobil, spending most of his career in the fuels business. He has also had assignments in the real estate, procurement, and projects functions. Along with multiple domestic assignments, Mr. Gerrity’s career has taken him to Bogota, Colombia as the Asset Manager for the Andean service station network (Colombia, Venezuela, Peru and Ecuador), and to Lima, Peru as Retail Sales Manager. Additional postings include two assignments in the United Kingdom while in the real estate function, covering Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. With travel to 40+ countries, Mr. Gerrity has expanded his cultural sensitivity, becoming aware of how different societies address neurodiversity.

Kevin married his wife Andrea (who also works for ExxonMobil) in 2012, and between them, they have three wonderful children (Gabriella-23, Maddie-20, and Tommy-19). It was while in Peru, as Tommy turned three, that his developmental progress began to lag significantly. Recognizing the lack of infrastructure in Peru for special needs, he requested a change in career to get back to the United States, for a complete diagnosis and ongoing support.

Tommy’s diagnosis was severe autism, leaving him non-verbal and requiring support for basic needs. It was while absorbing this diagnosis that Mr. Gerrity realized 1)  many families are in similar positions, both within ExxonMobil and society in general, and 2) there was a lack of support for special needs- including company benefits, financial planning, long term residential plans, and vocational opportunities. These two realizations are the catalyst behind becoming a co-founder of Project Beacon.
