David Abrams

David Abrams started his career with Exxon Company, USA in the Norwalk, CT Audit department in 1982 after graduating from Northeastern University with a degree in Accounting. He obtained an MBA in Finance in 1989 from the University of Houston. After Marketing audit assignments in Connecticut and Maryland, David moved to Houston, TX in 1985 to coordinate accounting activities for the ExxonMobil Savings Plan. In 1987, David supervised Gas Accounting activities for properties operated by other companies. After accounting and financial coordination roles for ExxonMobil railcar and office facilities, David became a Facilities Manager with responsibility for Houston area office buildings.

 In 2000, concurrent with the Exxon and Mobil merger, David moved to Coral Gables, FL as a Procurement Specialist, responsible for ground transportation services in the Caribbean, and Central America, and became manager of the group including South America in 2002. In 2003, David moved to Fairfax, VA to manage Marketing Procurement Services in the Americas, and then as a procurement advisor for Lube and Chemical additives.

 In 2007, David moved back to Houston in a Real Estate and Office Facilities role and led an optimization study that resulted in the decision to build a campus in North Houston for 10,000 Houston, Fairfax, and Coral Gables employees. David led the initial land search and acquisition and became the Planning Manager for the development of the campus. In 2012, David became the Business Support Center Advisor responsible for efficiency and effectiveness best practices for 10,000 employees across 8 global centers in the Americas, Europe, and Asia.

 In 2018 David transitioned to the United Way of Greater Houston as a full-time Loaned Executive to support ExxonMobil’s commitment to that agency. In that role, he developed internal process improvements and coordinated campaign activities for several other companies. In 2019 David retired from ExxonMobil after 37 years and stayed on as a part-time Loaned Executive with UWGH until 2020.

David has been married for 36 years to Kathy and they have 2 grown children. David is an avid golfer and, with Kathy, they enjoy traveling, scuba diving, and skiing.
